Bouldering and Lead Climbing are two main disciplines within the climbing world.
Bouldering has been gaining traction over the years with several bouldering-only gyms popping up all over Australia and throughout the world.
Bouldering is exactly what it sounds like, climbing a boulder, however, this is done with no ropes. Bouldering is one sure way to build strength, fitness, and endurance. Once you’ve learned the safe way to boulder along with the correct way to fall you’ll be off to the great outdoors with your shoes, chalk, boulder pad, and a buddy to spot you.
Lead Climbing is a different type of rope climbing.
Unlike top rope where you have a pulley device set up above you, lead climbing tests your skills by making you clip yourself in whilst climbing a cliff face, taking your rope up with you as you go.
It’s a form of climbing not for the fainthearted and should be learned with an experienced instructor who can show you proper clipping and belay technique. If you’re interested in lead climbing and have some top-rope climbing up your sleeve, then please contact our Hume gym and we can place you on our wait list.
