We are excited to announce that we will host a Squad Competition at Mitchell on Sunday, November 27th, open to all current members of Rock Rats, Geckos, Mountain Goats, and Rock Squad. After missing our annual Squad Comp in 2021 due to COVID, we are so excited to finally host one again this year! The gym will be closed to the general public on the day of the comp. Hume will be open as normal.

Volunteering
If you would like to volunteer to help with running the competition, we would greatly appreciate your help. Please call the Mitchell gym at 02 6262 4863 to express your interest.
Comp Format
We will be using a “pumpfest” format, meaning that all top-rope climbs in the gym will be assigned points based on their level of difficulty. Climbers will record each climb they successfully complete, and at the end of their timeslot, climbers will add up their top 5 climbs to determine their score. For categories that include bouldering, we will run a boulder jam format, where competitors can attempt a set of boulders designated for their category as many times as they like. Their zone and top attempts will be factored into an overall score with their top-rope score to determine winners.
Each squad will have a designated competition time slot (draft comp schedule coming soon).
Rock Rats will top-rope only, and will have 1.5 hours to compete. Geckos and Mountain Goats will top-rope and boulder, and will have 2 hours to compete. Rock Squad will top-rope and boulder, and will have 2.5 hours to compete.
We will finalise categories and prizes based on the number of enrolments we receive from each squad. Please note: children under 10 can’t belay at our gyms. They will need someone older to assist them with belaying while they compete.
Registration is open!
The competition is open to all squad members currently enrolled in Term 4. Registration is now open and will close at 10pm on Friday, November 25th.
Registration will cost $17, inclusive of any gear hire needed, and must be paid in advance to reserve the competitor’s spot and help us plan appropriately. The registration fee will help us cover a portion of the costs associated with closing the gym to the public for the day.
If you would like to register, please contact our Mitchell gym at 02 6262 4863, or talk to our friendly staff in person. We can take payment in person or over the phone. Let us know when registering what category you would like to enter (see category options below).
Registration can be refunded so long as you contact us at least 48 hours ahead of the comp to cancel. Any cancellations less than 48 hours out from the comp will not be refunded.

What is the Inclusive category?
Inclusive is a category open to any climbers of any gender, physical ability, or skill level. It is an option for competitors who do not fit into binary gender categories, and/or any climber who does not wish to compete in gendered or grade-based categories for whatever reason. Inclusive categories are now a regular part of State and National level comps in Australia. We offered Inclusive categories for the first time at our 2021 Rockathlon.
